CHAPTER 1: GUNUNG ANGSI

Hai assalamualaikum, this is my first entry and i feel like to share my experience to Gunung Angsi. It was actually an educational camping programme for us , Siswa Siswi Pertahanan Awam (SISPA) cadets to do practically what we’ve learnt in class instead of just remembering the theory on Compass and Search and Rescue (SAR) topics. It was in our syllabus ,so thats why we need to be expert in it and of course we will be evaluate by several exams.

Before we started our journey to Gunung Angsi, we actually spent a night at the camping site in Ulu Bendul, Negeri Sembilan. So, we need to set up a tent and we also need to cook by ourselves with the ingredients provided by our coaches. During night, we had to to take shifts to do patrol.

We’ve started our journey early in the morning because it took about 4-5 hours going up to reach the peak of Gunung Angsi. It was so challenging as the way to it so slippery and we need to climb a lot of big rocks !! We need to pass through a few rivers along the way and no smile on our faces because we were so tired and exhausted. Our coaches kept urging us not stop for a long time because its waste of time and they wanted us to go down back before its getting dark.

As we almost reached the peak , the way became smaller ,narrower and it can only fit one person at one time. As we felt like want to give up,our coaches pushed our backs and gave us supports to continue the journey.

What can i say? the peak of Gunung Angsi’s condition was not as i thought. what came across my mind was “the peak must be full of beautiful flowers”. Ugh, i knew that i was so silly to have that kind of thought but never mind because i felt very proud of myself to be able to try new thing and finished it to the peak.

So, to others out there, don’t afraid to try new thing because you’re just gaining new experiences ,memories and of course your life will be not so boring .

till we meet again in the next entry.

lots of love,

dhiya.
